Racers Open Outdoor Season at Vanderbilt

The Murray State women's track and field team starts the outdoor season on Friday as they travel to Nashville, Tennessee for the Black and Gold Invitational.
The Racers are coming off a fourth place team finish at the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship. Vallery Korir finished third in the 5000 meters and the 3000 meters at the meet. Tamdra Lawrence also made the podium as she placed third in the 55 meters and 200 meters. The MSU distance meter relay team composed of Brittany Bohn, Ali Hester, Emma Gilmore, and Jocelyn Payne took first in the event.
MSU broke several records during the indoor season and look to do the same. Korir (9:49) and Hester (9:54) both broke the school record in the 3000 meter. Korir also broke the school record in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:06.
Lawrence also comes into the outdoor season after winning two OVC Track Athlete of the Week awards during indoor season.Â
