No. 15 Ole Miss Too Much For Racers

15th-ranked Ole Miss held the Murray State baseball team to just five hits, one of which went for extra bases, as the Racers fell to the Rebels 8-3 Wednesday night in Oxford, Miss.
Trailing 8-0 in the top of the eighth inning, MSU (17-21) collected three of its hits in the inning and scored all three of its runs in the frame. Caleb Hicks' double to right field got the Racers on the board as he brought in Kipp Moore to score. In the next at-bat, Jack Hranec's single through the right side scored two runs to reach the final margin.
Jaron Robinson recorded two hits in the loss to lead MSU. Hranec and Tyler Lawrence both went 1-for-3 on the night. Adam Bauer walked twice and Hicks and Scott scored a run each against the Rebels (28-10).
The Rebels broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs, which started a streak of four consecutive innings with Ole Miss scoring a run. The Rebels scored a run in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to break the game open for the No. 15 team in the country.
The Racers used a total of 10 pitchers in the game while Brad Boegel took the loss as he allowed the two runs in the second inning. Seven pitchers saw an inning of action on the night. Jack Hranec got the start and pitched just the first inning.
MSU returns to action this weekend as Tennessee Tech comes to Reagan Field for a crucial three-game OVC series. First pitch of game one is set for 6 p.m., Friday night.
