Murray State plays its final home game of the season Wednesday night in a pivotal OVC matchup as the Racers host Southeast Missouri at 6 p.m., at "The Bank". MSU currently sits in fourth place in the OVC standings going into the final week of the season and is a half-game behind SIU Edwardsville for third.
The Racers are coming off an 85-76 loss Saturday to the Cougars. Ke'Shunan James led MSU with a season-high 28 points on a career-high 12 made field goals. Bria Bethea recorded her second consecutive double-double in the loss as she tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bethea received Co-OVC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for her performance against SIUE and in the Racers' win over Eastern Illinois earlier in the week.
Bethea averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game during the week, shooting 44 percent from the floor and going 8-of-16 from 3-point range. Bethea scored a team-high 22 points and had 10 boards in the win at EIU. Since being inserted into the starting lineup seven games ago, Bethea has averaged 18.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 48 percent overall and 47 percent from beyond the arc. During the stretch, Bethea has recorded three double-doubles and has scored 20 or more three times.
The Redhawks are led by arguably the best guard duo in the conference in Bri Mitchell and Adrianna Murphy. Mitchell leads Southeast Missouri in scoring at 14.8 points per game and ranks third in the league with 5.2 assists per game. Murphy leads the league with 6.1 assists per game. The duo are also the only two Redhawks to have started in all 27 games this season. Hannah Noe averages 11.5 points per game, leads the team in 3-point shooting as she has made 68 3-pointers on the year, and is shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. As a team, SEMO is shooting 42 percent from the floor and 35.6 percent from 3-point range. The Redhawks rank third in the OVC in scoring at 74.6 points per game.
Wednesday will be Senior Night at the CFSB Center as seniors Kyra Gulledge, Krystal James, Daniella Pisano and LeAsia Wright will be playing their final home games for the Racers.
