Racers Break 4 X 100 Relay Record in Busy Week

The Murray State women's track and field team concluded a busy week, competing in three meets in two states. Murray State saw action in the Texas State Bobcat Invitational (Texas State), the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (University of Texas) and the Joey Haines Invitational (Southeast Missouri).
Texas Relays
100-Meter
Both Tamdra Lawrence and Daijah White competed in the 100-meter dash, with Lawrence finishing with a time of 12.08 and White finishing with a time of 12.13. Both White and Lawrence set PRs with their respective times.
100-Meter Hurdles
Jabreuna Brimlett finished 18th out of 85 runners in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.66. Her time of 13.66 is a PR in the event and currently the fastest time in the Ohio Valley Conference.
3000-Meter Steeplechase
Rebekah Priddy finished the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10th place with a time of 11:08.80, giving her the current fastest time in the OVC.
4 X 100 Relay
The team of White, Norma Abdur-Rafia, Brimlett and Lawrence finished with a time of 47.86 for one of the fastest recorded time in the OVC this season.
4 X 400 Relay
D'Myia Thornton, Abdur-Rafia, Lawrence and Hilary McAdam finished 20th with a time of 3:47.30.

Bobcat Invitational
100-Meter
Setting a PR in the 100-meter race at the Texas Relays of 12.13, White went to set a new PR with a time 12.07 and a 12th place finish. Also competing in the 100-meter race was Alison Woerner who finished with a time of 12.97.
200-Meter
Abdur-Rafia finished 13th with a time of 24.37, White finished 29th with a time of 24.99 and Summer Wheeler finished 43rd with a time of 26.26.
400-Meter
Abdur-Rafia placed sixth overall in the 400-meter race with a time of 56.50, Thornton placed 18th with a time of 57.71 and Wheeler placed 26th with a time of 58.39.Â
800-Meter
Placing fifth overall, McAdam set a season best in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:14.52

5000-Meter
Amanda Parker finished 25th in the 5000-meter race with a time of 19:07.46.
100-Meter Hurdles
Brimlett placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.37, which is .07 off the school record of 13.30. Aubrey Main placed 28th with a time of 15.37
3000-Meter Steeplechase
Ida Mutai and Emily Flaherty competed in the steeplechase, finishing with times of 11:40.82 and 12:03.03 respectively.
4 X 100 Relay
The team of White, Abdur-Rafia, Brimlett and Lawrence broke the school record in the 4 x 100 relay with a time of 45.60 coming in second place. The previous record was 45.63 and was set in 2012.
High Jump
Aubrey Main placed eighth with a mark of 1.65m (5'5''), setting a new PR for her.
Long Jump
Both Main and Woerner finished in the top-20, with Main placing 15th with a mark of 5.31m (17'5.25'') and Woerner placing 19th with a mark of 5.24m (17'2.25'')
Shot Put
Destiny Carey finished 11th in the shot put with a mark of 12.56m (41'2.5'') while Jewel Wagner finished 18th with a mark of 11.78m (38'7.75'')
Hammer Throw
Both Wagner and Carey finished in the top-25, with Wagner finishing 19th with a mark of 41.39m (135'9'') and Carey finishing 21st with a mark of 41m (134'6'')
Javelin
Finishing 11th overall was Kristen Higgins with a mark of 33.12m (108'8'')

Joey Haines Invitational
10,000-Meter Run
Both Meagan Smith and Caroline Grogan competed in the 10k race hosted by Southeast Missouri. Smith placed fourth overall with a time of 37:27.46 and Grogan finished 38:20.19.
