Turley Begins Season With OVC Honors

Murray State's Macey Turley has been named to the 2019 Preseason All-OVC Women's basketball team, the league announced at its annual media day in Evansville, Indiana Tuesday.
Turley, the 2018-19 OVC Freshman of the Year and All-OVC selection had an outstanding first campaign for the Racers. The Murray native finished second on the team last season in points per game with 12.9, while leading the Racers in assists 4.4. per game. In addition, Turley was solid from the floor at 35.8 percent on the year and boasted the team's best free throw percentage by going 102-for-117 for 87.2 percent.
In addition to Turley's honor, Murray State was picked to finish eighth in the annual preseason poll voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors. Â The Racers were picked 12th last season and finished head coach Rechelle Turner's second campaign in sixth, clinching a second consecutive OVC tournament berth in the process. Four-time defending champion Belmont was tabbed by pollsters to win its fifth-straight OVC crown.
The Racers will officially kick off their 2019-20 season November 8 when they open their season at the first of two Elite Eight teams from a year ago that they will face in Louisville.
