
Racers Wrap Up Don DeNoon Invitational

The Murray State track and field team wrapped up the Don DeNoon Invitational, Saturday in Carbondale, Illinois.
"Today overall was a positive step in the right direction of our overall goals," said head coach Adam Kiesler. "We saw numerous kids move up the OVC list and at the end of the day that's what matters. We are starting to move away from our hard training block so we have high expectations for the upcoming weeks."
Rachel Hagans and Jabreuna Brimlett each won for the Racers, taking the crown in the long jump (5.54m) and 60m hurdles (8.65), respectively. The 4x400 relay team of Hagans, Kenia Seals, Lucia Herrero Yanez, and Kemya Owens also won with a time of 4:01.76.
Three of the four runners in the relay also had top 10 finishes in the 60m as Seals finished second with a time of 7.65 seconds followed by Hagans in sixth with a time of 7.88 and Herrero Yanez in eighth at 7.97.
JaKayla McSwain finished second in the 400m with a time of 58.13 to finish second and followed by LaMiah Campbell, who finished sixth with a time of 1:01.20.
In the 800m, D'Myia Thornton finished second with a personal-best time of 2:22.28 while Emma Graf ran 5:18.07 in the mile to finish seventh. Â Amanda Parker was the top finisher in the 3,000m with a time of 11:01.49, also a personal-best to round out the distance races.
In the shot put, Destiny Carey finished seventh with a distance of 13.47m.
Besides Hagans in the long jump, Alison Woerner also had a solid performance as she jumped 5.28m to finish third.
The Racers will return to action February 7-8 when they travel to Huntington, West Virginia to compete in the Marshall Invitational.
