Racers At SIUE For Saturday Matinee
The Murray State Racers (19-8, 12-3 OVC) will take on the SIUE Cougars Saturday in a 2 p.m. game at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. With only three games remaining in the Ohio Valley Conference regular season, the RacersÂ
are not in as good of a spot to win their third consecutive championship as they were before they play at Eastern Illinois Thursday night.
MSU Moves On From EIU Collapse
In the hours after the Racers' 63-60 loss at Eastern Illinois Thursday, MSU was trying to put the incident behind them after they played a great 30-plus minutes, but blew a 27-point lead and lost 63-60 on a 3-pointer with .4 left on the clock. With 11:45 left in the game, the Racers held a 50-23 lead on the Panthers, but got outscored 40-10 the rest of the way.
Choosing to focus on the positive, the Racers can look to the first half when they they produced one of their best defensive first halves of the season in holding EIU to 30 percent shooting (8-of-27) which included only one 3-point basket in 14 tries. The Racers had a 32-17 lead.

Dust Off The Tiebreaker Sheet
Indeed, it is that time of year when conference races are coming down to the end and everyone is checking out the tiebraker rules that will decide the seeding for the postseason tournament and it's no different for the teams in the OVC.
The Racers and Belmont (each 12-3) enter the final three games of the regular season now one game behind OVC leader Austin Peay (13-2). Eastern Kentucky is in fourth place at 11-4. After MSU's game at SIUE Saturday, they come home next week to host EKU on Thursday (Feb. 27) and APSU (Feb. 29) at the CFSB Center. There is so much that can happen in these last three games. The Racers just want to concentrate on Saturday's game at SIUE.
MSU Looking For Another 20-Win Season
Coach Matt McMahon is on the verge of his third-straight 20-win season. If the Racers can get it, McMahon will be the third MSU coach to do it. The first was Coach Carlisle Cutchin (1935-38) and the second was Coach Steve Prohm (2011-15) who is the only MSU coach to do it in four-straight seasons. When MSU gets that 20th win, they will have done it in 12 of the last 17 seasons.
