The Racers have a pair of home games this week as they also host Middle Tennessee Saturday on Coach Cal Luther Day also in a 7 p.m. game time. MSU enters the game having won their last three games at the CFSB Center and their last 18 non-conference games at The Bank.
Racers Have Successful Week In Florida
MSU won their final two games at the Naples Invitational during Thanksgiving week when they took down Long Beach 80-43 and James Madison 74-62. The Racers rebounded nicely after a poor shooting night cost them in a 66-58 defeat to East Tennessee. MSU's win over LBSU was their sixth straight against teams from the state of California.
Murray State's KJ Williams was named to the Naples Invitational All-Tournament Team after he averaged 20 points per game including a 29-point performance against LBSU. Williams also had his first double-double and 18th of his MSU career in the ETSU game and is a big reason way the Racers are averaging 40 points scored in the paint per game this season.
The rest of the Naples team included Tournament MVP David Sloan (ETSU), Gage Primm (Missouri State), Sincere Cary (Kent State) and Ledarrius Brewer (ETSU)
Daring Duels Await MSU In December
At 5-1 and one game to play in November, the Racers speed into the month of December with six games on the slate including (Dec. 4) home Middle Tennessee, an old foe of the Ohio Valley Conference from 1953-00. The Racers lead the all-time series 106-37 and are 6-5 against the Blue Raiders since they left the OVC and have won two of the last three games.
The Racers play at the Memphis Tigers (Dec. 10) for their first meeting since the Racers knocked the Tigers off in the FedExForum in 2011, which propelled them to a 23-0 start of the season and eventually top-10 ranking nationally. The game begins a fun two-day event for Racer fans, who can stay in town and watch former Racer Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies play the Houston Rockets on Murray State Day (Dec. 11).
The Southern Conference favorite Chattanooga visits the CFSB Center (Dec. 14) for the first time since 2009. The Mocs are 5-0 and ranked 117 in the nation as of Nov. 26 in the KenPom rankings.
The Racers take a shot at the Auburn Tigers (Dec. 22) in their final game before Christmas at Auburn Arena. The Tigers were ranked 19th this week in the Associated Press Top-25 poll.Â
