The Game
The Murray State women's basketball wraps up its 2020-21 regular-season Saturday when it travels to Cookeville to take on Tennessee Tech. Tip-off from the Hooper Eblen Center is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+, WBZB 104.5 FM and the Zeno Radio app.
Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 85th meeting between Tennessee Tech and Murray State with the Golden Eagles leading the all-time series, 66-18, as well as the series in Cookeville, 39-5.
Scouting The Golden Eagles
Tennessee Tech enters Saturday's contest with a season mark after a win over Austin Peay Thursday, Tennessee Tech is now 12-7 in OVC play and 14-8 overall. The Golden Eagles are currently one game ahead of the Racers in the OVC standings, giving the Racers the opportunity to move up to as high as fifth with a win Saturday.
Tennessee Tech is currently averaging 67.2points per game on 42.9-percent shooting from the floor, while their opponents are currently averaging 67.0 points on 43.9-percent shooting.
Kesha Brady currently leads TTU in scoring at 12.4 points per game, while Anna Jones follows at 10 .8, and Jordan Brock and Mackenzie Coleman just behind at 10.5. On the glass, Anna Jones leads the way for the Golden Eagles with 6.1 boards per game, while Coleman and Jada Guinn follow at 6.0.
A Win Saturday Would...
A win Saturday would give Murray State no lower than the sixth seed in next week's OVC tournament and should SEMO lose as well, the Racers would finish fifth. A loss, however, would place them seventh.
The First And The Last
The Racers have registered just five wins in 44 tries at the Hooper Eblen Center in Cookeville and head coach Rechelle Turner has been a part of two them. She was part of the first-ever Racer team to win in Cookeville in 1993 and earned a win over them as a coach in 2018, the most recent of the five wins.
A Half For The Ages
The Racers put together one of the most remarkable second halves in recent memory Thursday at JSU, as they scored 53 points and shot 70.8-percent from the floors. The 53 points in the second most in a second half this season, while the 27 fourth-quarter points went down as a season high.
Paging Mr. Mo Mentum
As the regular season winds down, the Racers have amped up. Murray State has won three games in a row, six of the last seven and seven of the last 10, making them one of the hottest teams in the OVC heading into next week's tournament.
Winning Ways
With Thursday's win, MSU has guaranteed itself a winning record both overall and in league play. That is a feat no Racer team has accomplished since the 2008-09 season.
