Murray State softball will open OVC competition on Friday when they travel to Martin, Tennessee for the start of a three-game series against UT Martin. Friday will see a single game at 4:00 p.m., while Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.

All-Time Series:
The Racers and Skyhawks have met 31 times entering the weekend, with UT Martin holding a narrow advantage with a 16-15 record in the all-time series. The Racers did come out on top in both of the most recent meetings, however, cruising to 5-4 and 3-0 wins in both ends of the doubleheader in 2019 on the road in Martin.

A Look at the Racers:

The Racers (3-11) will look to build some momentum after winning the last game of the nonconference slate – a 5-4 contest over IUPUI at the Tiger Invite in Auburn, Alabama.

Lily Fischer continues to swing a hot bat for the Racers, as the sophomore is posting a .324 average with three doubles and a pair of runs scored while reaching base at a .395 clip on the year. Sierra Gilmore continues to supply the power in the Racer lineup, as she's collected two home runs with a team-high five RBI to lead the team with a .421 slugging percentage in 2021.

Racer Pitchers have combined to post a 2.44 ERA on the year, with Jenna Veber (2.25 ERA, 4.75 K/BB) and Hannah James (2.43 ERA, 48 K, .193 opp. BA) leading the way for Murray State in the circle.

Scouting UT Martin:
The Skyhawk bats have come alive in the early stages of 2021, batting .324 as a team with seven players sitting above the .300 mark. Freshman Kaci Fuller leads the team offensive with a .414 batting average while scoring six runs and tallying nine RBIs to go with five stolen bases.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Kelley is coming off a huge week where she posted a .417 batting average while hitting home runs in three straight contests at the Tennessee Invitational.
The Skyhawk pitching staff is led by senior Hannah Ridolfi with a 2-0 record with a 1.95 ERA in 14.1 innings of work.
