Murray State Wins SEMO’s Joey Haines Invitational

Murray State won the Joey Haines Invitational on April 2-3.
The Murray State women's track & field program won the women's team competition with a score of 167 points and saw several athletes record top-10 program marks at SEMO's Joey Haines Invite.
The Racers swept the team relays for the second meet in a row. The team of Teliyah James, Rachel Hagans, Jumyia Denning, and Lucia Herrero Yanez ran a time of 45.64 to win the 4x100m and Hannah Malone, Wambui Watene, Kenia Seals, and Amirr Evans won the 4x400m with a time of 3:52.52.
Kenia Seals claimed fourth overall in Murray State's all-time outdoor performance with a time of 11.69 in the 100m and eighth overall in the 200m with a time of 24.52.
Lucia Herrero-Yanez finished the 100m with a time of 11.92, good for eighth on the list while LaMiah Campbell set a new PR with a time of 2:13.54 in the 800m, landing her ninth overall.
Jabreuna Brimlett won her second-straight 100m Hurdles with Nia Scott finishing second to set a new personal best of 14.32.
JaKayla McSwain placed first in the 400m dash with a time of 56.92
Three Racers claimed personal bests in the pole vault. Jenna Pauly finished second in the event with a mark of 3.65m, the second highest height in Racer history. Ella Siebenberger and Shannon Riley both cleared heights of 3.50m, placing them fifth overall while Gabby Kennedy improved her personal best to 3.20m for the tenth spot.
In the jumps, both Rachel Hagan (5.97m) and Keyandra Mason (5.18) set new personal bests in the long jump with Mason also setting a new triple jump PR with a mark of 11.34m. Jessica Ribeiro jumped a season-best 1.65m in the high jump.
The Racers will travel to Nashville to participate in the Vandy Black and Gold Invite the weekend of April 16-17.
