Game Day Storylines

The Racers (2-8) are 1-6 in their first season in the MVFC.
The Racers and Penguins were members of the Ohio Valley in the 1980's where they played five times between 1981-87.
MSU leads the all-time series 6-2 and are 6-0 at Roy Stewart Stadium in the series.
College Football Hall of Famer, Coach Frank Beamer, led the Racers in their last meeting with YSU in 1987, a 30-13 win in overtime.
In their 51st season of playing in Roy Stewart Stadium, the Racers are 170-100-2 (.000) at the "Concrete Cathedral".
The Racers are 3-5 all-time at home in overtime, they lost their last OT game at home in 2017 vs Eastern Illinois 27-24.
The Racers are scoring 16.6ppg in 10 games this season (10th) in MVFC.
MSU is having their first instance of back-to-back seasons of scoring sub-20 points per game for the first time since the 2005-06 seasons when they scored 19.8ppg and 17.7ppg. MSU scored 15.2ppg in 2022.
Matt Maldonado and James London share place kicking duties for the Racers. Maldonado is 6-of-6 while London kicks the longer field goals and is 2-4 with a season-long 53-yarder at NDSU.
At home against North Dakota, DJ Williams tossed for a season-best 228 yards on 19-of-36 with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Williams is ninth in the MVFC with 10.4 pass completions per game.
Orion Phillips is third in the MVFC with a punt average of 43.3ypp. He leads the conference with 11 punts of 50 or more yards and he has downed nine punts at the 10 yard line or inside of it.
Saturday's season final is Senior Day as the Racers honor eight student-athletes for the dedication to the program.
