The Game
The Murray State women's basketball team returns to the CFSB Center Thursday for the first of its final two home games of the season Thursday against Drake at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out
Murray State grabbed its first conference road win of the season Sunday with an 83-69 win over Southern Illinois in Carbondale. Katelyn Young and Macey Turley led the Racers with 31 and 14 points, respectively, while Briley Pena and Hannah McKay came off the bench to add 13 and 11.
Series At A Glance
Forty-three points from Katelyn Young was not enough for Murray State in its first-ever meeting with Drake in Des Moines in January, as the Bulldogs survived the outburst and held on for an 80-67 win.
Scouting The Bulldogs
Drake turned in a convincing 83-67 win over Illinois State Sunday to move to 16-8 overall and 11-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs are currently in fifth place in the league standings, two games out of first, with four games remaining.
Maggie Bair currently leads three Bulldogs that are averaging double-digits this season with 15.6 points per game. Grace Berg follows Bair with 10.4 points per game with Katie Dinnebier next in line at 10.4. Bair currently leads Drake on the boards as well with 8.4 rebounds per game, while Anna Miller adds 6.0.
Drake currently averages 77.8 points per game on 46.9-percent shooting with 44.3 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' opponents are averaging 64.6 points per game on 36.2-percent shooting with 33.5 rebounds per game.
A Win Would...
A win Thursday would give Murray State back-to-back wins for the first time since Jan. 11 and 15 when the Racers topped Belmont and Bradley.
Topping The Charts...Again
Macey Turley needs just eight 3-pointers to become the program's all-time leader in the category. Heading into Thursday, Turley has 257 career 3-pointers and is seven behind the 264 of current leader Mariah Robinson
31 For 30
Katelyn Young scored 31 points at Southern Illinois Sunday, giving her back-to-back 30-plus point games. The junior currently has eight such games in her career, trailing Sheila Smith's program record of 11 by only three.
Knocking On The Door
Macey Turley needs just 13 points to become the fourth member of the Murray State 2,000-point club. She would join Sheila Smith, Ke'Shunan James and Ashley N. Hayes as the club's only members.
