Game Day Story Lines
- The Racers open their 100th season of collegiate basketball and their 27th in the CFSB Center.
- After being predicted for eighth and seventh place finishes, the Racers were picked third in the MVC Preseason Poll and saw seniors Nick Ellington and JaCobi Wood each receive All-MVC honors.
- The Racers have added experience to their 2024-25 roster in Terence Harcum (App State), Kylen Milton (Pine Bluff), AJ Ferguson (Southern Illinois) and KyeRon Lindsay (Texas Tech).
- It's season three for MSU in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Racers have two second-month MVC games against Evansville (Dec. 3) at home and on the road (Dec. 18) against Indiana State.
- Coach Steve Prohm begins his seventh season in his career with the Racers and the 2024-25 season marks third season in his second era in Murray and it's his 14th season as a head coach, that began at Murray State in 2011.
- Prohm is 8-4 as a head coach in season openers and is 5-1 in openers at the CFSB Center.
- The Racers are 86-13 all-time in season openers and 25-1 in CFSB Center openers with the only loss coming to the Houston Cougars in 2014.
- The recently announced renovation of MSU's home, the CFSB Center, will transform the arena that opened under Coach Tevester Anderson in the fall of 1998.
- The project is now in the early planning stages.
- MSU welcomes new assistant coaches Brendan Mullins (SIU) and Bryan Sherrer (Pine Bluff) as both very familiar with the Murray State program.
