Seven-figure investment will support recently announced CFSB Center renovation and other capital projects
A massive swell of support following the announcement of the long-overdue renovation to the home of Racer Basketball has led to Murray State Athletics receiving a transformational $2 million gift from Community Financial Services Bank (CFSB) towards the CFSB Center and other strategic initiatives, it was announced on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The generous contribution has secured the naming rights for the first-of-its-kind bunker club, one of the most prominent new features of the arena project, and continues one of the department's longest-standing partnerships for years to come. The naming right is subject to approval by the Murray State Board of Regents during their meeting on Friday, Dec. 13.
Â
Murray State's newest gift has again extended its unprecedented fundraising success with a record eighth, seven-figure gift given to MSU Athletics this calendar year. It is also the largest, one-time cash contribution in University history and is the second-largest overall gift in department history.
Â
The Racers have now raised more than $20 million since January 2024.
Â
"We are incredibly grateful for CFSB, Jason Jones and his team, for their belief in our shared vision for excellence," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "Racer Nation continues to propel our department to new heights. We are laser focused on our vision and are prioritizing new recruitment and revenue opportunities that will position Murray State Athletics in the new landscape of revenue sharing. This gift is a testament to the commitment that our investors have in our plans to continue and elevate Murray State University's brand through athletics."
Â
With a significant amount of funding having already been poured into renovations and enhancements around the athletics footprint and competitive programs, this gift will have a major impact on future facility projects and help position the Racers to continue and lead the charge in the Missouri Valley Conference, and nationally, during one of the most transformational periods in intercollegiate athletics history.
Â
"CFSB is deeply honored to play a role in Murray State's incredible journey of growth and excellence," CFSB President Jason Jones said. "Our commitment to this university and its athletics programs reflects our belief in the transformative power of education and community. The CFSB Center is a cornerstone of Western Kentucky, and we are excited to be a part of recreating a space that inspires student-athletes, fans, community members and future generations of Racers."
Murray State has seen unprecedented growth around its facilities, with several million dollars' worth of capital projects currently underway and having recently announced its plans for a massive, eight-figure renovation to the CFSB Center for the first time since the building opened in 1998.
