Allen Roulette picked up his first win of the season against the Mastodons.
Murray State's bullpen efforts and a four-run fourth inning propelled the Racers to completing the sweep over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, winning by a score of 5-2.
Graduate Allen Roulette earned the win after tossing a scoreless 5 1/3 innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit and striking out six batters.
Graduate first baseman Taylor Howell opened the scoring for MSU with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the first inning. After the Mastodons took the lead in the top of the third on a two-run double, Howell hit another sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game.
Redshirt junior Dan Tauken brought around the go-ahead runs on a two-run double that sailed over the right fielder. Murray State's scoring was capped on a sacrifice fly from senior catcher Ethan Krizen.
Graduate right-handed pitcher Ryan Fender made his first start of 2024, going 3 2/3 innings allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while fanning seven batters.
The Racers outscored Purdue Fort Wayne 33-5 through three games, the most in a season-opening series since Murray State scored 49 runs to open the 2022 season against Butler.
MSU returns to play when they take on the SEMO Redhawks in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Tuesday, February 20 at 3 p.m.
