The Racers are set for their first road test with the Southeast Missouri Redhawks Wednesday night at Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo. at 3 p.m. CT.

Scouting Report
The Redhawks are 0-3 to start the 2024 campaign after getting swept by Dallas Baptist on the road. Michael Mugan was SEMO's biggest impact player on offense during the weekend, batting .429 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs.

Head coach Andy Sawyers is in his eighth year at the helm of SEMO's baseball program with a career 181-173 record and three winning seasons during his tenure.

Weekly Notes
The Racers are coming off a season-opening sweep over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, sitting as one of three Missouri Valley Conference teams that are undefeated to start the season.

The Racers outscored PFW 33-5, recording the most runs in a season-opening series since 2022. MSU's 33 runs currently are tied for the 27th-most in the country.

Carson Garner leads the team in batting average, slugging and on-base percentage, hits and home runs. His slugging percentage of 1.091 is also atop the conference standings.

Jonathan Hogart's ranks in the top 20 nationally with seven runs scored in the series. Murray State holds the second-best WHIP (0.78) and tied for 11th in team ERA (1.67) in the country, with both statistics leading the MVC.
