2/25/2024 11:04:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
Jenna Pauly was crowned MVC Long Jump Champion Sunday night.
The Murray State women's track team ended the opening day of the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in fourth place with 25 points scored for the day at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago, Illinois.
"A big part of championship meets is making sure the bumps don't derail the day, and today we did a good job of that," head coach Adam Kiesler said. "Everyone really did a good job of picking each other up when needed."
The Racers opened the competition with the women's pentathlon where Meghan Fletcher finished as the runner-up in the event. She saw three top-five finishes including tying a first-place finish in the high jump at 1.74 meters in the multi event, scoring 3,577 points.
Jenna Pauly was awarded the MVC Long Jump champion Sunday night with a distance of 5.96 meters, setting a new indoor personal best for the senior.
"Jenna had a very busy day and she responded well doing everything she could to score for her team," Kiesler added.
Seven Racers recorded personal bests for the day and nine Racers qualified for the finals in five different events.
"A few kids really showed up when we needed them to and we look forward to fighting for a championship tomorrow," Kiesler said.
The MVC Indoor Championships continue on Monday, February 26.
