Racers Open Outdoor Season At Home With Margaret Simmons Invite
3/23/2024 8:33:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
Murray State saw a first-place finish in nine events.
The Racers showed out to start the outdoor portion of the 2023-24 season at home with the Margaret Simmons Invite in Murray, Kentucky. The meet saw 13 women's teams and 14 men's teams compete throughout the two-day event.
"It's always fun to host at your home track," head coach Adam Kiesler said. "The new element of outdoor track and field is the weather. We had one amazing day for March and the other was a little chilly, but our kids didn't stop competing."
Murray State saw 23 finishes among the top three, nine of which were event wins.
"We had some good marks for our first weekend out, and we look forward to continuing to improve them," Kiesler added.
14 different Racers set new personal bests after the weekend's home event.
"The sad part of the weekend was that our seniors will be competing at home for the last time," Kiesler said. "They have done so much for this program and we will miss them greatly!"
Murray State now turns its attention to a split competition between three events; the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on March 28-30, the Bobcat Invite in San Marcos, Texas on March 28-30 and the Joey Haines Invite in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 30.
