Murray State women's basketball fell 91-60 to SDSU
Murray State women's basketball fell Monday night in Brookings, South Dakota, as South Dakota State pulled away for a 91-60 win at First Bank & Trust Arena.
Junior guard Haven Ford led the Racers with 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Sharnecce Currie-Jelks added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Keslyn Secrist grabbed nine boards. Halli Poock finished with seven points and two assists.
Murray State came out strong in the opening quarter, jumping to a 15-10 lead behind baskets from Ford and Currie-Jelks. The Racers struggled to find offense in the second frame, however, as South Dakota State surged ahead with a 25-7 quarter to take a double-digit lead into halftime.
The Jackrabbits stayed hot the rest of the way, shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three. Murray State showed life in the third quarter with 26 points, but South Dakota State closed strong to remain unbeaten on the year.
Murray State finished 21-for-72 (29.2%) from the floor and 5-for-29 (17.2%) from beyond the arc.
