Racers Pick Up Gritty Win over Saint Louis

Murray State women's basketball set a program record with 44 made free throws in the win over SLU
Murray St. held off a determined Saint Louis rally and poured in 38 points in the final quarter to secure a hard-fought 96-88 victory at the CFSB Center on November 15, 2025. The win moved Murray St. to 3-1 on the season, while Saint Louis fell to 1-4.
The Billikens trailed by six at halftime, 41-35, but mounted a strong third-quarter push to knot the score at 58-58 heading into the final frame. The back-and-forth contest saw the lead change 11 times and the score tied 10 times, but Murray St. exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Saint Louis 38-30 to seal the win.
Murray St.'s victory was largely fueled by a commanding performance at the free-throw line, where they finished 44-of-50 for the game. Halli Poock and Sharnecce Currie-Jelks each contributed a game-high 28 points. Poock was nearly perfect at the line, sinking 15 of 17 attempts, while Currie-Jelks went 13-of-15 and secured a double-double with 10 rebounds. Keslyn Secrist also recorded a double-double for Murray St., finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Murray State moves its attention to Big 10 opponent Illinois on Tuesday in Champaign, Illinois.
