Murray State Falls to Kentucky in Final Match Before Winter Break
The Murray State Racers fell to the Kentucky Wildcats 4750-4710 on Saturday morning in Lexington, Kentucky.Â
The Racers tallied scores of 2342 in smallbore and 2368 in air rifle. Four different Racers finished in the top four individually, with freshman Lea Soulé being the lone Racer in the top five. Â
Soulé was the top shooter for the Racers in smallbore, putting up a 590 with 36 centers. Her fellow freshman, Abby Ballard, placed fifth in smallbore with a 590 of her own and 33 centers. Emma Lawrence and Caroline Martin both cracked the top ten, taking ninth and tenth with a 583 for Lawrence and a 582 for Martin. Â
After putting up a 580 in smallbore, Carlotta Salafia fired a 595 in air rifle to lead the Racers and place fifth individually. The freshman duo of Lea Soulé and Abby Ballard continued to be productive, taking fifth and sixth. both put up scores of 592, with Soulé totaling 43 centers and Ballard having 42. Emma Lawrence and Caroline Martin took 11th and 12th with scores of 589, as Lawrence has 41 centers and Martin has 39. Â
 Lea Soulé and Abby Ballard were the scorers for the Racers with aggregates of 1182 as Soulé placed fifth with 79 centers and Ballard took sixth with 75. Carlotta Salafia placed ninth with an 1175, and Emma Lawrence placed 10th with an 1172. Â
The Racers have a long break before returning to action in the new year. The Racers will host the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, January 10 at 9 a.m. CT at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky. Â
