The Racers took the series at Indiana State and delivered the program’s fifth-straight 30-win season
For the first time in 85 seasons of collegiate baseball, the Murray State Racers have won five-consecutive 30-win seasons after they took the series decider 2-1 on Sunday afternoon over the Indiana State Sycamores at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute.
MSU (30-10) improved to 12-6 and have at least a spot in second place in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Kane Elmy stymied the Sycamores with a brilliant 6.2 innings pitched in which he only gave one run (unearned) on four hits, with no walks and a pair of strike outs. Graham Kelham got the final seven outs in no-hit fashion for his second save.
The Racers got all of the runs they needed from Carson Garner who had a fifth-inning double to drive home Jonathan Hogart and Connor Cunningham.
Indiana State broke up the shut out in the seventh, which promoted Kelham to take the ball from Elmy to get the third out of the inning.
It's a big week ahead for the Racers with four games on tap, beginning with a Tuesday non-conference game in Cape Girardeau, against Southeast Missouri. The weekend marks MSU Baseball Alumni Weekend with the Southern Illinois Salukis coming to Murray. Festivities include honoring new MSU Hall of Famer, Daniel Calhoun, the 1975 NCAA Team and Johnny Reagan Day.
