Surging Racers Visit SEMO Tuesday

The Murray State Racers hit the road for their final scheduled mid-week game Tuesday with a visit to play the Southeast Missouri Redhawks. The first pitch happens at 6 p.m. from Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

The Racers (30-10) are coming off a series win over the weekend at Indiana State after they won a thriller 2-1 over the Sycamores in Terre Haute. The Racers share second place in the Missouri Valley Conference at 12-6 with Southern Illinois, as the Salukis come to Murray and Johnny Reagan Field this weekend for MSU Baseball Alumni Weekend.

The Redhawks (26-18) are 13-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference at the top of the standings sharing first place with SIUE at 13-5. SEMO swept three games at Morehead State over the weekend with an 11-10 win Sunday. The Redhawks host Tennessee Tech this weekend.

In the first of two meetings between the two in Murray (April 15), the Racers won it 4-3 on an 8th inning double by Dom Decker.

Game Notes
- In the first meeting in Murray (April 15) the game was tied at 3-3 in the eighth inning when Luke Mistone led off the inning with a double to left field before Dom Decker lined a go-ahead RBI double.
- Jack Wajda and Reese Oakley scattered just two SEMO hits across 5.2 innings in relief and as Oakley earned the win after tossing three shutout frames.
- Coming into the SEMO game, the Racers are winners of 15 of their last 17 games since April 1.
- The Racers have won four-straight MVC series wins over Bradley, UIC, Valparaiso, Indiana State.
- With their series win at Indiana State, marks the first time in 85 seasons as a program, the team has posted five-straight 30-win seasons under Coach Dan Skirka.
- In 2025, the team made it to 30 wins in their 40th game, which is the third-fasted to 30 in team history.
- The 1975 team did it in 34 games and the 1974 team did it in their 37th game.
- Kane Elmy was the starter and the winner Sunday for the Racers 2-1 over ISU, his stat line was impressive: 6.2IP, 4H, 1R 0ER, 0BB, 2K in 81 pitches.
- Elmy lowered his ERA to 2.95 this season in 42.2 innings, for the top spot in the MVC.
- As a team the Racers have the lowest ERA in the MVC at 4.58, with Nic Schutte at No. 2 (3.21) and Isacc Silva at No. 5 (3.86).
- Graham Kelham closed out the game for his second save with seven-straight batters retired with one strike out.
