Six-figure commitment will support capital projects and other strategic initiatives
Murray State Athletics has received a generous investment of $300,000 from The Murray Bank, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Â
The gift, which is the largest single gift made by The Murray Bank to the University, will help the department invest in key capital projects to enhance the footprint around Johnny Reagan Field and aid in supporting other strategic initiatives as part of the department's shared vision for excellence.
"This is an exciting time to be at Murray State University, and this outstanding gift from The Murray Bank is a testament to the tremendous local support that we receive from our community," University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. "This investment will have a major impact on our athletics park and will allow the Department of Athletics to continue and enhance critical team spaces to positively impact our student-athletes."
Â
Murray State has seen unprecedented growth around its facilities, due in large part to the generous investments made by supporters such as The Murray Bank.
Â
"We have experienced a tremendous amount of success over the last three years with the support of The Murray Bank, and this gift is a representation of their belief in our shared vision for excellence and of our shared goal to prioritize community engagement," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "I want to thank all of The Murray Bank stakeholders, President Tony Ryan, and the entire Board of Directors for their support of Racer Athletics. We are thrilled to be able to roll out new plans in the near future with the help of their support."
Â
"Murray State University has a tremendous economic impact on our Community and the surrounding region," said Tony Ryan, President and CEO, The Murray Bank. "The economic opportunities and stability MSU provides makes Murray an attractive place to live, work and raise a family. Racer Athletics plays a key role in recruitment, retention, and alumni relations. We were recently reminded of the national spotlight athletics can shine on Murray State with the Racer Baseball Team's unprecedented run to Omaha in the College World Series. They represented many years of Breds and Racer Baseball as well as Murray State Alumni around the country. Success by Racer Athletic Programs can be used to fuel the growth and continued success of Murray State University within every department. The Murray Bank is proud to play a small part in fulfilling the vision for success laid out by Director of Athletics Nico Yantko, Murray State Athletics and Murray State University. We look forward to continued success with President Ron Patterson leading Racer Nation."
Â
Murray State has seen unprecedented growth around its facilities, including plans for a massive, eight-figure renovation to the home of Racer Basketball for the first time since the building opened in 1998.
Other projects that have been completed over the last two years include: the renovation of the men's basketball locker room and continued updates to the football team spaces and locker room, the weight room renovation in Roy Stewart Stadium, the Baseball/Softball Performance Center, and the new LED lights in the basketball arena.
Â
The Racer Club plays a crucial role in helping support student-athlete scholarships, general operating budget, and facility enhancements. Investors play a critical role in funding the student-athlete experience and the competitive success of Murray State Athletics programs and student-athletes.
