Murray State dominated Drake 95-67 to help Coach Rechelle Turner surpass 150 career wins
Behind a dominant double-double from Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, Murray State extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 95-67 victory over Drake on Sunday at the CFSB Center. The Racers remained perfect in conference play, as Coach Rechelle Turner picked up her 150th career win.
Currie-Jelks was a force in the paint, finishing with 18 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Guard Keslyn Secrist provided a significant boost, contributing 15 points while adding seven rebounds and a steal. Haven Ford led all scorers with 22 points, while Halli Poock added 19 points and seven assists to a balanced offensive attack that shot 50% from the field.
The Racers took control early, jumping to a 20-11 lead after the first quarter. Drake struggled to find a rhythm against Murray State's defense, shooting just 31.7% for the game. Anna Becker and Abbie Aalsma each scored 11 points for the Bulldogs, but the visitors could not overcome a 31-point fourth-quarter deficit.
The Racers along with Belmont remain the only two undefeated teams in Missouri Valley Conference play. The win over Drake is the Racers first against the Bulldogs at the CFSB Center since joining the MVC.Â
