Racers Secure Second Win at Belmont in Program History

Murray State women's basketball took sole possession of first place in the MVC with a win at Belmont on Saturday
Halli Poock scored 23 points and Sharnecce Currie-Jelks added a double-double as Murray State secured a 78-71 victory over Belmont at the Curb Event Center on Saturday. The win marks just the second time in program history that the Racers have won on Belmont's home court and their first since joining the Missouri Valley Conference.
Poock led the Racers (19-3, 10-1 MVC) by shooting 7-of-16 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. Currie-Jelks dominated the interior with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Haven Ford had a monster game with 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Keslyn Secrist also reached double figures for Murray State with 13 points.
The contest featured 14 lead changes and 12 ties. After trailing 33-31 at halftime, Murray State surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Bruins 24-22 behind 62.5% shooting from the floor. The Racers sealed the win in the fourth by converting 9-of-12 free throws down the stretch.
Belmont was led by Hilary Fuller, who finished with 20 points. Avery Strickland added 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Despite out-blocking the Racers 8-2, the Bruins struggled with efficiency, shooting just 55.6% from the charity stripe compared to Murray State's 80%.
