Murray State hosts Northern Iowa for a battle of the Valley's best
The Murray State women's basketball team looks to extend its nine-game winning streak Friday night when it hosts Northern Iowa in a pivotal Missouri Valley Conference clash at the CFSB Center.
The Racers (12-2, 2-0 MVC) enter the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league, bolstered by a high-powered offense that leads the conference in scoring. Murray State is led by forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, who is averaging 20.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, and guards Haven Ford and Halli Poock. The Racers remain undefeated at home this season.
Northern Iowa (8-6, 4-0 MVC) arrives in Murray atop the conference standings after winning four straight games. The Panthers boast the MVC's top-ranked scoring defense, allowing just 60.5 points per contest.
While UNI holds a 6-2 all-time lead in the series, Murray State swept both meetings last season.
