MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State Soccer is set to kick off the 2026 regular season with a road matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Wednesday night's contest marks the start of a new era for the program, serving as the first regular season action under first-year head coach Ben Madsen.
The season opener begins a noteworthy three-match stretch to open 2026, featuring two SEC matchups and a road contest at Preseason No. 2 Notre Dame.
Murray State's roster features 12 newcomers, eight freshmen and four sophomore transfers, while returning 2025 First-Team All-MVC selection Breece Bass. Bass begins her 2026 campaign as a member of the MVC Women's Soccer Preseason Team after earning a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Positional Players to Watch List for Forwards.
The Racers and Rebels have limited history on the pitch, with Ole Miss leading the all-time series 4-0. The last meeting between the two programs came in 2019, when Ole Miss defeated the Racers 5-4.
Like the Racers, Ole Miss enters 2026 with a new coaching staff, hiring Todd Schulenberger away from Washington State and adding eight players from his 2025 Cougars roster.
The Rebels open their new era on the heels of a 2025 season in which they went 0-7-3 in SEC play and finished last in the conference.
Murray State and Ole Miss kick off the 2026 season at 7 p.m. CT at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, with the match streaming live on SECN+.
