2006-07: Played primarily at No. 3 singles...posted a 3-16 record...won two of his three matches at No. 2 singles...battled out a tough three-set victory over Razvan Axente of Tennessee-Chattanooga, 7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-3...won back-to-back matches at No. 2 singles over Nathan Matthews of Bellarmine (6-1, 6-2) and Aaron Fields of Tennessee State (6-0, 6-0)...posted a 4-10 mark at No. 3 doubles...went 2-2 at No. 1 doubles with teammate Dmytro Hryhorash...earned back-to-back victories over Bellarmine and Tennessee State at No. 1 doubles...teamed with Chris Horton to post an 8-6 victory over Southeastern Louisiana at No. 3...won three straight doubles matches near the end of conference play...selected to the 2006-07 Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2005-06: Played primarily at the No. 4 singles position...went 2-0 at No. 5 singles...hit a stretch during the season in which he won four of five singles matches... picked up singles victories against conference opponents from Tennessee State, Eastern Illinois and Samford...won two three-set matches...after dropping the first set to Sean Bush of Eastern Illinois, Gerlach came back to capture the second set 6-3 and finished off Bush with a 6-1 win in the third set...teamed with Jeff Lester for an 8-7 win at No. 2 doubles against Memphis.
2004-05: Made 15 appearances in singles matches as a freshman...picked up his two of his four wins at No. 5 singles...won his only match at No. 4 singles...accounted for three of the team’s four wins at No. 2 doubles.
Before MSU: Played at DuPont Manual High School in Louisville, Ky...reached the region quarterfinals as a freshman and then advanced to three regional semifinals as a sophomore, junior and senior...Louisville Invitational Tournament finalist his freshman season...Manual High School Invitational finalist his junior season and semifinalist his senior year.
Personal: Born Sept. 12, 1985...son of Jo Ellen and Chip Gerlach...majoring in engineering physics.
