The Murray State Racers are back at the CFSB Center Thursday against Tennessee Temple (3-4) in a 7:30 p.m. tip at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
The Racers (2-0) are coming off their first road test of the 2011-12 season. MSU scored an 80-69 win in Baltimore, Md., Monday night against the favorite of the Mid-East Athletic Conference, Morgan State. Isaiah Canaan and Ivan Aska led the Racers with 23 and 21 points.
The Racers' game against Tennessee Temple marks the their last home game until they host Dayton (Dec. 4). MSU is hitting the road for an extended period with a game Sunday at UAB in Birmingham, Ala., before making their first appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout Thanksgiving week.
The Racers are set to play the host of the event, Alaska-Anchorage (Nov. 23), before facing the winner/loser of the Dartmouth/San Francisco match-up (Nov. 25). The Racers stay in Alaska ends with a game against one of the teams in the bottom of the bracket: Central Michigan, New Mexico State, Southern Mississippi or UC Irvine (Nov. 26). Before coming home for Dayton, the Racers play at Western Kentucky (Dec. 1).
In all, the Racers will travel approximately 9,600 miles before their next game at the friendly confines of the CFSB Center.
Murray State senior Ivan Aska is off to a good start with and 18.5 points per game average in the first two games. His career total stands at 970 as he draws closer to becoming the 27th member of the MSU 1000-Point Club. In two games, Aska is hitting .625 from the field (15-of-24) and .778 from the free throw line (7-of-9). He also leads the team with 9.5 rebounds per game.
The Racers will play their 188th in their 14th season in the CFSB Center against the Crusaders. MSU is 160-27 (.855) overall and 61-9 (.871) against non-conference opponents. In fact, the Racers have won 12 straight such games dating back to their last loss to Louisiana Tech (Feb. 21, 2009). MSU's overall home win streak is eight since their last loss to Eastern Illinois (Jan. 20, 2011).
