Game Notes
Jarvis Williams scored his third straight double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. MSU's all-time streak of double-doubles came in 1991 by Popeye Jones who had 17 in a row. Jones (1988-92) is MSU's all-time rebounder and fourth all-time scorer and had 77 career double-doubles.
Williams and Fairell is the first Racer pair to have double-doubles in the same game since Ed Daniel and Brandon Garrett did it last February against Tennessee State.
Payne's eight assists is the most for a Racer since Isaiah Canaan had nine last January against SIUE. Payne's eight assists is third in the OVC this season behind 15 by Morehead State's Kareem Storey against Mid-Continent and nine from SEMO's Lucas Nutt against Central Baptist.
The Racers are now 184-32 (.851) overall and 110-22 (.832) in non-OVC games in their 16th season at the CFSB Center. MSU's current home win streak is two after winning both games this season. MSU lost its final home game of the season last March to SE Missouri.
MSU's next home game next Tuesday against Middle Tennessee marks the Blue Raiders first visit to Murray since they played a New Year's Day game at the CFSB Center in 2003.
Auburn also played tonight and handled OVC member Jacksonville State 78-54 to move to 2-1.
