The Murray State Racers continue a season-long four-game home stand Thursday when they host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. The 7 p.m. tip at The Bank follows the Racers and Tech women's squads at 5 p.m. All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis and commentary. Free online streaming video is on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Tech series is Murray State's longest running as these founding members of the OVC meet for the 173rd time. The Racers have won the last six against Tech since 2011. At home, the Racers have won nine straight against Tech since the last loss in 2005.
Since a rare losing skid, the Racers have circled the wagons coming out of the Christmas break with two wins including the OVC opener Saturday at home against Morehead State for their ninth-straight league opening win. Wayne Langston netted his fourth double-double of the season and freshman Brion Sanchious made his second start and hit crucial free throws in the final seconds to seal a 62-57 win. Recent shooting woes for the Racers are easing. In the last two games, the team went 46-of-99 from the field for 46 percent and were 15-od-32 for 47 percent. MSU was great from the free throw line at 56-of-69 for 81 percent.
The Racers are starting the OVC campaign with three straight home games for the first time since  2013.  After the win over Morehead State, MSU has now won 17 straight OVC games and the same number at home. These streaks date back to the final home game the 2012-13 season when it was Senior Day for Isaiah Canaan and Ed Daniel. MSU lost to SEMO.
The boost that freshman Sanchious gave the team Saturday was impressive. He ended up playing 35 productive minutes with eight rebounds and five points. The presence of another big man on the floor for MSU was also a positive for MSU's Wayne Langston. He played the entire game without a hint of the foul trouble that plagued him recently. Langston is one of the best post scorers in the nation as he enters the TTU game 11th in NCAA D-I at 66 percent. Langston also led MSU in assists with four, making him the first Racer post player to do this since Jeff McClain in 2011.
The next game for MSU is Saturday when they host Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks are at Austin Peay Thursday. Tip time Saturday for another women's/men's doubleheader is 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the CFSB Center.
