Having moved into a share of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference West Division, the Murray State Racers are at home in the CFSB Center Saturday to face the Austin Peay Governors. The 7 p.m. tip in Murray, Ky., comes after the APSU and MSU women play at 5 p.m.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 25th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis and commentary. Online video is available at OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
The Racers have won four of their last five games including a win Thursday at Southeast Missouri State 78-72. Murray State never trailed and started in front 10-2. MSU made 12 3-point baskets which marked their best game since last March when they hit 14 at Tulsa in the NIT.
Â
Jeffery Moss continued his recent great play with a season-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting including 7-of-11 from the 3-point line. Moss tied his career-high in 3-point shooting matching the seven he hit at home against Tennessee Tech in 2014. He was two off the MSU record of nine held by Justin Burdine in 2002. The game was Moss' 11th career game of 20-plus points. Moss became the 13th player in MSU history to hit seven 3-pointers. The 3-point shot was introduced into the college game in 1986.
Â
The Racers placed five in double-figures with 12 from Wayne Langston and 10 each from Gee McGhee, Damarcus Croaker and Bryce Jones. The game marked the fourth time this season that MSU has put five players in double-figures against a D-I team. The others were: Milwaukee, Houston, EvansvilleÂ
The game with the Govs Saturday will mean the Racers will have played every OVC opponent once this season. MSU has won eight-straight in the series including the last four at the CFSB Center since the Govs beat the Racers at home in 2011.Â
The Racers hit the road next week for a game Thursday at SIUE. The game will be aired by Fox Sports Midwest at 7 p.m. MSU comes home (Feb. 13) to host SEMO, before having their bye week with no game on a weekday. MSU will play in Clarksville against Austin Peay on Feb. 20. There are six games remaining in the regular season for the Racers.
