2/6/2016 10:18:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Murray State Racers couldn't hold a four-point lead in the final 40-seconds in a shocking 76-73 loss Saturday to the Austin Peay Governors at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
The Racers fell to 12-12 overall and out of a share of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference West Division at 6-5. APSU improved to 11-15 and 4-7.
The Racers were seemingly on their way to the victory when Jeffery Moss scored a three-point play to give MSU a 73-69 lead with 40-seconds left.
However, Govs guard Zach Glotta's 3-point basket made it a one-point game with 27-seconds left. The Racers suffered a pair of turnovers in the final seconds and APSU made three free throws to get the win.
Moss continued his great play of late with his third-straight 20-point performance. His season-high 27 points came on 8-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
Gee McGhee was MSU's second double-digit scorer with 12 points.
Damarcus Croaker led MSU with eight rebounds.
The second half of the game began with MSU leading 40-32 coming out of halftime. The Racers and Govs played a close second half with MSU gaining their largest lead of eight points (62-54) with 6:40 left.
The Racers hit the road next week for a Thursday game at SIUE. The 7 p.m. tip will air on Fox Sports Midwest. MSU returns to the CFSB Center Saturday (Feb. 13) to host Southeast Missouri State.
