Racers Drop OVC Opener

On Friday, the Murray State men's tennis team opened OVC play with a loss as they were defeated 6-1 by Morehead State at Sadler Courts in Morehead, Ky.
The Racers found themselves down early as they lost the doubles point. David Schrott and Marcel Ueltzhoeffer kept the match close but ultimately fell at the No. 1 doubles 6-5. Partners David Hess and Javier Villar fell to their opponents 6-3 at the No. 3 doubles and the pair of Will True and Srdjan Trosic were swept 6-0 at the No. 2 doubles court.
In the singles matches, Â Villar saved MSU from getting swept in the match. He rallied after losing the first set 2-6 to win the next two sets 6-3, 10-7. True played well at the No. 2 singles. After losing the first match 6-4, the sophomore kept the second set tight before his eventual 7-6 defeat.
The Racers (2-11) look to bounce back as they take on Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m.
