Men's Tennis Prepares for Weekend Matches

The men's tennis team looks for their first OVC victory of the season as they take on Eastern Illinois and SIU- Edwardsville at Purcell Courts on Friday and Saturday.
The Racers come into the match with a 2-12 overall record and a 0-2 record in OVC play. In their last matches, MSU fell to Morehead State 1-6 and Eastern Kentucky 0-7. Both of Murray State's victories have come at home. In both matches, winning the doubles point proved to be crucial in the Racers victory.
Javier Villar was the lone Racer to win his match in OVC play. At Morehead State, he defeated his opponent 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 to keep MSU from getting swept in the match. Marcel Ueltzhoeffer and David Schrott have had impressive performances at the No. 1 doubles court. In their match at EKU, they faced #53 Alex Alvaro and Ramon van Flymen, their first ranked doubles pair of the season. They fell in the match 6-2.
Eastern Illinois comes into the match with a 2-9 record and a 0-1 record in OVC play. In their lone OVC match, the Panthers faced SIUE and lost 3-4. The Cougars are 5-9 this season with a 1-0 record in OVC play. SIUE is 1-6 on the road coming into the match.
The Racers will face EIU on Friday and SIUEÂ on Saturday. Both matches are set for 1Â p.m. and will begin at the conclusion of the women's matches.
