Men's Tennis Prepares for Final Home Matches

The men's tennis team prepares for the final home matches of the season as they take on Belmont and Tennessee State on Friday and Saturday at Bennie Purcell Courts.
The Racers come into the match after a busy weekend slate. Murray State (2-19, 0-5) took on the University of Tennessee in Nashville in a weekend series. The Vols defeated the Racers in both double headers 0-3, 0-5 and 0-5, 0-5. The Racers then traveled to Clarksville, Tennessee to take on the Governors of Austin Peay. The Racers lost 1-6 in the match. Javier Villar was the lone Racer to win his singles match as he won 6-2, 6-4. Villar was also victorious in his doubles match with partner Srdjan Trosic (7-5).
Belmont comes into the match sixth in the conference with a 7-8 overall record, 3-3 in conference and a two match winning streak. The Bruins defeated SIUE (4-3) and Eastern Illinois (4-3) in their last matches. Belmont also has an impressive victory over preseason favorite Eastern Kentucky where they won 4-3.
Tennessee State comes into the match 6-10 overall and 1-5 in conference. The Tigers come into the match after winning their first conference match since 2002. TSU won 4-3 over Eastern Illinois, a team MSU was defeated by 4-2.
The match against Belmont on Friday is set to begin at noon. The match against Tennessee State is set to begin at 11 a.m. Before thematch on Saturday, Anjan Kashyab will be honored with the seniors form the women's team in a special Senior Day ceremony.Â
