Racers Come Up Short Against Belmont

The Murray State men's tennis team fell 5-2 in their match against Belmont on Friday at Bennie Purcell Courts. Marcel Ueltzhoeffer and Will True won their singles matches in the defeat.
In the doubles point, the Racers were down early. David Hess and True fell at the No. 2 doubles court 6-1. Javier Villar and Srdjan Trosic fell next at the No. 3 doubles court 6-2 to give Belmont the early 1-0 lead.
MSU also struggles in the singles matches. David Schrott was the first to fall as he lost 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles. Trosic fell next at the No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-2. Ueltzhoeffer was the next to finish at the No. 1 singles court. Despite falling in the first set 1-6, he was able to bounce back to win the match as he took the next sets 6-3, 6-1. True won his match by default at the No. 2 singles court. True won his first set 6-4 but lost his second 5-7. The score was 4-3 in the third set when Belmont defaulted the match to MSU. Hess (7-6, 6-0) and Villar (6-3, 6-1) lost their matches sealing the win for the Bruins.
The Racers look to bounce back as they take on Tennessee State on Saturday. Match time is set for 11 a.m. There will be a special Senior Day ceremony before the match, starting at 10:30 a.m. to honor the men's and women's tennis seniors. Anjan Kashyab will be honored in the ceremony.
