Racers Place Fourth At OVC Indoor Championship

Closing out the indoor track season, the Murray State track and field team finished fourth at the OVC Indoor Championship at Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill.
"We did a great job at the OVC Championship, we competed well and it showed in how we performed. It means a lot to me and the team to finish in the top-five, they put it on the line and did this for each other," said head coach Adam Kiesler after the two day meet.
Shot Put
Two Racers finished in the top-10 in the shot put, with Jewel Wagner and Destiny Carey placing seventh and eighth with marks of 13.15m and 12.83m. Wagner's mark of 13.15m was a PR.
Triple Jump
Jabreuna Brimlett placed second in the triple jump in her first triple jump event of the year with a mark of 12.02m (39' 5.25'').
60-Meter Hurdles (Finals)
Brimlett posted a time of 8.43, good for second-place. Antoinetta Avant placed eight with a time of 9.72.
400-Meter Race (Finals)
Norma Abdur-Rafia came in fourth place in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.47
60-Meter Dash (Final)
Tamdra Lawrence placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.45, .03 seconds off her season best.
200-Meter Dash
Both Lawrence and Abdur-Rafia placed in the top-five in the 200-meter race. Lawrence finished second with a time of 24.29 and Abdur-Rafia finished fifth with a time of 25.09.
3000-Meter Race
Megan Smith posted the fastest time for Murray State with a time of 10:25.16
4X400-Meter Relay
The relay team of Thornton, Lawrence, McAdam, Abdur-Rafia finished fourth with a time of 3:54.85
Murray State begins their outdoor season at home, as they host the Margaret Simmons Invitational on Friday, March 16.
