Racers Head to SEMO’s Joey Haines Invite on Easter Weekend

Murray State travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. April 2-3
The Murray State women's track & field program will travel to Cape Girardeau, Missouri for Southeast Missouri State's Joey Haines Invite at the Abe Stuber Track Complex on April 2-3.
MEET INFO
Southeast Missouri track & field will host the 2021 Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invite Friday and Saturday at the Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex.
Murray State will compete against host SEMO, Chicago State, Western Illinois, SIUE, Saint Louis, Missouri State, Memphis, Austin Peay, UT Martin, Belmont and Wisconsin-Parkside.
The hammer throw will take place at 3:30 p.m., CT on Friday. All of the other track and field events will be contested on Saturday. Saturday will commence with the 10,000 meters at 10 a.m. followed by the shot put at 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Racers are coming off their annual Margaret Simmons Invite. Murray State swept the team relays, winning the 4x400 and set new program and facility records in the 4x100 and the 4x800 relays.
The 4 x 100 relay of Teliyah James, Rachel Hagans, Jumyia Denning and Lucia Herrero Yanez ran a time of 45.34 to break the previous record set in 2018 by three-hundredths of a second.
In the 4 x 800 relay, the team of Kayla Bell, LaMiah Campbell, Dani Wright and Amirr Evans destroyed the 31-year old record of 9:25.00 set in 1989 with a time of 9:09.43.
In addition to helping break a Murray State record, Rachel Hagans also set a new PR in the long jump, jumping a mark of 5.80m.
Kenia Seals took first in the 100m dash and second in the 200m while LaMiah Campbell ran a new PR of 57.86 in the 400m.
Amirr Evans won the 800m and Jabreuna Brimlett won the 100m Hurdles with Nia Scott finishing second to set a new personal best of 14.50.
In the heptathlon, Jessikha Ribeiro finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 4333, winning the hept long jump and finishing second in the 100m Hurdles and the 200m Dash.
Meghan Fletcher set a new personal best in the heptathlon, scoring 4080 and taking first in the hept high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
COMING UP
The Racers will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to participate in the Vandy Black and Gold Invite April 16-17 after a weekend break from competition.
