Racers Close Day One at MVC Champs on Top

Murray State track and field tops point rankings at day one of MVC Championships
M Murray State track and field close day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships at the top of the rankings, Sunday.

The Racers have four podium finishes, including three gold medals and one silver medal.

Rachel Hagans gave the Racers their first gold medal by finishing first in the long jump with a 6.15m (20' 2.25").

Meghan Fletcher grabs the Racers' second gold medal, winning the pentathlon with 3692 points. Fletcher went off a good start as she won and dropped .3 seconds in the hurdles and then won the high jump while matching her school record. Jenna Pauly finished second with 3578 points.

Brooke Misukonis highlighted the night as she became the MVC pole vault champion with a new school record mark of 4.05m (13' 3.5"). She renewed her previous mark of 3.92m that she set at Vanderbilt this past January. Pauly adds more points for the Racers as she places sixth with a personal best mark of 3.85m (12' 7.5").
