2005: Re-injured his throwing arm in his sole game of the season against Southern Illinois on March 2...threw 1.1 innings, striking out two and allowing one hit.

BEFORE MSU: Bolstered Murray High to a combined 70-20 (.778) record over his last three seasons under coach Cary Miller...helped Tigers to a 23-8 record in his senior season (2003) and a district championship...went 9-1 with a 1.56 earned-run average...selected for regional Senior All-Star Game...helped MHS to a 21-9 mark in his junior year (2002) and a sectional runner-up slot to go with a regional title and district runner-up finish...went 5-4 with a 3.21 ERA...selected to the East-West Junior All-Star Game as well as the regional Junior All-Star Game...part of a 26-3 MHS squad his sophomore season (2001), helping the Tigers to a district title...went 8-1 with a 1.76 ERA...went 0-1 in his freshman season (2000) as part of a district runner-up team.
PERSONAL: Born Edward Sorger Baust on Oct. 8, 1984, in Murray, Ky., the son of Joseph and Gail Baust...father is on faculty at Murray State in early childhood and elementary education...has one brother, Joseph Baust Jr., and one sister, Leah Baust Hooper...graduated seventh out of a class of 111 with a 3.98 grade-point average...named Most Outstanding Senior Boy, Most Likely To Succeed...member of Spanish Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Pep Club...enjoys playing guitar and listening to music...majoring in chemistry.
