AT MSU: Began her freshman season by winning the Ohio Valley Conference Discus competition at the 2006 Outdoor Championships with a toss of 138’00” (42.06 meters)... Advanced to the NCAA Mideast Regionals in Columbia, Mo., where her longest toss was 39.94 meters... Became the fifth individual OVC Outdoor Discus champion in MSU history, and first since 1991... Also finished in fifth place at the OVC Outdoor Shot Put competition (41’ 10”00, 12.75 meters).
BEFORE MSU: Attended Tilghman High School in Paducah, Ky., where she excelled in both track and filed and basketball... Gained state records in shot put and discus... Was named all-state first team in shot put and discus for six consecutive years... was named the 2005 Kentucky Gatorade Athlete of the Year... Earned the 2005 State Track and Field 2A Sportsmanship Award... In basketball, she helped the Tornado to district championships three years in a row while amassing over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds... a McDonald’s Basketball All-American nominee.
