AT MSU: Earned three letters as a member of the MSU track and field program...Last season, competed in nine meets...Season bests include a 44’00.75" (13.43 meters) in the shot put at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, in which she finished in second place...Also competed in the discus toss at the OVC Outdoor Championships, finishing in fourth place with a toss of 132’11" (40.52 meters)...Finished in second place in the 20 pound weight throw at the OVC Indoor Championships with a toss of 54’01.25" (16.49 meters).
BEFORE MSU: Attended Calloway County High School, where under coach and MSU alum Keith Jared, helped the Lakers make several successful state appearances...Finished second in the state at shot put in both her sophomore and junior years...As a senior, finished third in the state at shot put and second in the state at discus...Broke five school records in three years at CCHS...Also played basketball at CCHS under Murray State alum Scott Sivills...Was a member of Who’s Who Among High School Student-Athletes and the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Born Shameka T. Dial on May 28, 1986...Daughter of Sabrina Dial...Has two siblings, Averee Fields (14) and Kaine Coleman (11)...Hobbies include playing basketball, listening to music, and being with family...Majoring in occupational health and safety.
