Mike Vinson enters his fourth year as the strength and conditioning coach for Murray State athletics.
After four years at Ole Miss, Vinson came to Murray State in 2001 as the Racers' first-ever full-time strength and conditioning coach. In that capacity, Vinson oversees the strength and conditioning programs of all 14 MSU sports as well as managing the Stewart Stadium weight room.
At Ole Miss, Vinson was the Rebels' assistant strength and conditioning coach. He went to Ole Miss from the University of Arkansas where he was a graduate assistant in the Razorbacks' strength program from 1993-96.
Vinson is registered as an International Elite Powerlifter and a Level One Olympic Weightlifting Coach. He completed in the Junior World Championships in Moscow in 1990 and in the Ivory Coast in 1991. The Pansy, Ark., native has published two articles in the Strength and Conditioning Journal.
Vinson earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas in 1993. He has completed work on a Master's degree at both Arkansas and Ole Miss.
Vinson, 36, has two children, a son, Matthew (12) and a daughter, Olivia (7).
