Darron Boatright joined the Murray State family in July 2005 after being named the assistant director of athletics for marketing and development. In 2006 he was elevated to Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs.
In addition to overseeing the athletic department’s marketing and promotions strategies, Boatright is the department’s contact for all corporate giving. He also oversees the ticket office, baseball and men’s and women’s golf programs, cheerleading and the administration of the Racer Club.
Since the Racer Club began in the summer of 2005, its membership has grown to 950 and annual giving has surpassed the $575,000 mark.
Boatright graduated from Murray State in 1998 with a double-major in political science and history, and earned his master’s degree in higher education administration from Alabama in 2004. He served as a student assistant coach with Racer basketball under head coach Mark Gottfried from 1995 to 1998 and then served as director of basketball operations at Alabama from 1999 to 2005.
Before returning to MSU, Boatright served as special campaigns director for the University of Alabama athletics development.
Boatright and his wife, Chaney, a 1995 Murray State graduate, are natives of Benton, Ky. They have a son, Fletcher, 4.
