Nathan Young is in his second year at Murray State as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Young comes to Murray from Florida International University, where he was an assistant strength coach for four years. At FIU, Young was responsible for assisting the strength and conditioning staff with monitoring, training, testing, motivating, and educating all of their 17 NCAA Division I teams, with an emphasis on the baseball, softball, women's golf, and women's tennis programs.
Young also taught a basic undergraduate fitness class for three semesters at FIU.
He also worked a five month internship at Binghamton University.
As an athlete, Young is the APA New York Deadlift Record Holder for 2004, and a USAPL Florida State Record Holder for 2005. Young also lettered in track and field at both Liberty University and Canisius College, winning the 2000 Outdoor Big South Conference shot put event at Liberty.
Young was also named to the Big South Honor Roll every year from 1999 to 2002. Young also lettered for two seasons on the Liberty football team as a defensive tackle.
Young graduated from Liberty with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in exercise science and fitness programming in 2003, and earned his Masters at Florida International in exercise physiology and strength conditioning in 2005.
Young is certified by the National Strength Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist, and is certified by the American Red Cross and the National Safety Council in First Aid and CPR.
He and his wife Sabrina reside in Murray.
